by Jake Norman, 2012 President

The Fountain Valley Chamber has a couple of great networking opportunities coming up soon.

The second upcoming event is our monthly Business Lunch hosted by Grand China Buffet in Fountain.  This month’s business lunch will highlight Sun Country Energy Solutions.  The business lunch is yet another way you can get connected to other businesses in the Fountain Valley area.  The cost of this event is $8 to attend and runs from 11:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m.

Another upcoming event to keep on your radaris our Annual Golf Tournament, which gives you a chance to network with other businesses in the area and through various levels of sponsorship.  The event gives you a chance to promote and advertise your business and connect with others in the community.
Another way to support this event is to purchase tickets for a chance to win a very nice propane grill that was donated to the Chamber from Black Hills Energy.  Tickets are $2 per ticket or 6 tickets for $10.

Celebrating Richard Christian

by Jake Norman, FV Chamber of Commerce President

I want to first of all say “thank you” to everyone that attended the Chamber Open House and made it a great success.  As a new board we enjoyed getting to meet lots of new faces.
I also want to thank the Christian family (shown below this column ) for attending and giving us the opportunity to recognize and celebrate the contribution that Richard Christian made to the Fountain Valley Chamber.  We had standing room only at this event and hope that this will be the first of many events with this kind of turnout this year.

Richard Christian Honored, Remembered at Fountain Valley

Chamber of Commerce’s Open House for New Office
During the Open House held Jan. 30 at the new Fountain Valley Chamber of Commerce office at 410 S. Santa Fe Ave. in Fountain, it was announced that an oak conference table had been purchased by the chamber in memory of the late Richard Christian, who was very active in the chamber for a number of years.  A life-long resident of Fountain, Richard was one of the Chamber’s most dedicated past officers, members and volunteers; providing leadership, working on floats, representing the Chamber at various events and doing whatever was needed, anytime anyone asked. He was also a leader at the Fountain Sanitation District for numerous years, too.
At the Open House last week, Richard’s wife, Judy (also a long-time leader in Fountain including past service with the Chamber, on the City Council and as Mayor) was given flowers and shown a plaque that was to be placed on the wall above the table. Among those in attendance were Richard and Judy’s four sons and one of Richard’s daughters. Front row, from the left, Judy Christian and Chana Trimble. This Year’s Golf Tournament at New Venue

by 2011 Chamber President Jake Norman
This year’s annual Golf Tournament hosted by the Chamber is not that far away.  We are excited about our new venue, The Country Club of Colorado. This year’s tournament will be on Monday, June 18.  Our Vice President, John Parlapiano, is heading up the efforts to organize this event.  Last year this was a great time for those that participated.  There are a few of different ways your business can get involved and make this event even more successful this year.
#1) The Chamber is asking local businesses to sponsor the event.  Your sponsorship will give you the opportunity to make your business visible to everyone that participates in the golf tournament.
#2) Your business can enter a team into the golf tournament.
#3) You can help support the Chamber and get a chance to win a CharBroil grill.  We would like to thank Black Hills Energy for donating this grill and being a sponsor.  Tickets for a chance to win are $2 per ticket or you can buy six tickets for $10.  You can stop by the Chamber Office to purchase tickets and see the grill.
For more info about how you can get involved in this year’s golf tournament call the Chamber office at 382-3190 or stop by the office at 410 South Santa Fe, Suite 100 in Fountain.  We look forward to another great golf tournament this year.

Fountain Valley became a settlement in 1859 (founded by pioneers Tom Owens and Amos and Mary T Terrell.) They were soon joined by a third family, Mathias and Barbara Lock. Also founded in 1859 were Colorado City, Denver, Golden and Central City. The locals established a charter in 1871 and incorporated in 1903. Fountain is the oldest incorporated town in the Pikes Peak Region.
