Tax Man To You Can Help With All Your Tax Needs

BY GEOF CLARK
For years, Fountain resident and Tax Man To You owner George Sleeman had been doing taxes for several years as a side business to his regular job with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and for family and friends.
Then, in 2011, he hurt his back while working for the Sheriff’s Department and doctors told him that due to the medical issue, he could no longer work in law enforcement, a field he had worked in since 1994.  So, he decided to do tax returns full time and the rest, as they say, is history.
“I found myself grateful to have something to fall back on,” he said. “I have been doing taxes since I was taught to do them in 1986 in my Senior Civics class in high school.  I decided to hang out my shingle and make some money doing this when I was talking to a friend at the Sheriff’s Office.  She was charged over $300 by one of the major chain store operations for a simple itemized return.
“Knowing I could do it better and for less, I decided to take on my first client.  That was in 2009 (the 2008 tax season.) Since then, I have grown in size every year.”
Sleeman specializes in 1040 series returns for individuals and small business owners (sole proprietor and LLC.).  He also offers mobile service so if a person wanting help with their taxes can’t come to him, he will go to them.
“I also can do the corporate tax forms (1120 and 1120S).  I have the ability and experience to do payroll and all the necessary tax filings that they entail, sales tax and most any state income tax filing needed,” he said. “I also do bookkeeping for the small business, can form the LLC for a company in Colorado and discuss the benefits of business formation types to find what is best for the business owner.”
Sleeman, who received his Bachelor’s in accounting in 2011, is an enrolled agent with the Internal Revenue Service.  He also has a Bachelor’s in Criminal .Justice from Huron University which he received in 1995.
Sleeman, who was born in Selma, AL and raised in Northern Wisconsin, first came to the Fountain Valley by way of Iraq.
“As a member of the South Dakota National Guard, I was deployed in 2003 through Fort Carson,” he said. “My wife and I fell in love with Pikes Peak and the Front Range and decided upon my return, this is where we wanted to live.
“We love living and working in this community. The people here are great.”
Sleeman can be contacted by calling 646-2999 or via e-mail at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  His website is taxmantoyou.com.

Ent Federal Credit Union Returning $10 Million to Members

Ent Federal Credit Union recently announced it is returning $10 million to their credit union members through a one-time Special Member Dividend.  Ent members will be rewarded with $25 to $1,000 based on their use of credit union products and services in 2011.
Member use of the credit union for loans and other financial services, combined with Ent’s ongoing conservative operating philosophy, has enabled Ent to remain a Bauer Financial Five-Star rated financial institution with adequate capital to meet the projected needs of the credit union for the coming years.
As a result of Ent’s strong 2011 financial performance and high Net Worth levels, Ent’s Board of Directors approved returning $10 million to member-owners as an additional benefit of belonging to the not-for-profit cooperative credit union.
Charles Emmer, Chief Executive Officer, notes “Giving $10 million to our members provides a unique opportunity to help our communities as well.  Ent’s one-time Special Member Dividend allows us to recognize the contribution our members, both borrowers and savers, have made to the financial success of the credit union.”

Fountain Valley became a settlement in 1859 (founded by pioneers Tom Owens and Amos and Mary T Terrell.) They were soon joined by a third family, Mathias and Barbara Lock. Also founded in 1859 were Colorado City, Denver, Golden and Central City. The locals established a charter in 1871 and incorporated in 1903. Fountain is the oldest incorporated town in the Pikes Peak Region.
