DEWEY DELFORD DUGGINS
March 14, 1939-February 7, 2012
 
Dewey Delford Duggins, 81, a longtime Security resident, passed away February 7, 2012.
  He was born March 14, 1939 in Hellier, KY to Prentice and Bessie Duggins.  He married his lifetime love, Ilse Klara Frieda Schimmel, March 13, 1961, in Clintwood, VA.
  Dewey served four years in the U.S. Air Force and then served 16 years in the U.S. Army, retiring as an E-7.  During that time he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal w/ 1 Oak Leaf Cluster; the Army Commendation Medal; Vietnam Service Medal w/ 3 bronze service stars; Bronze Star Medal; Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ 60 device; Good Conduct Medal 5th Award; Meritorious Service Medal; Korean Defense and Korean Service Award.  He was extremely proud to having been an aid to General Mosses during his military service.
  After retiring from the military, he worked at the Porsche Dealership in Colorado Springs.  Dewey enjoyed fishing and spending time with his wife, his special children, Greg and Randine, his very special grandchildren, Brody and Landon, as well as friends and neighbors.
  Dewey is missed dearly and survived by his “adopted family,” Lamont and Jeanne Gizzi, Greg, Kami and Brody Gizzi and Randine, Ryan and Landon Langan, all of Security.
  He was preceded in death by his parents, Prentice and Bessie Duggin, and his wife, Ilse.
  Funeral Services for Dewey were held Tuesday, February 14, at Dove-Witt Family Mortuary, 6630 S. Hwy 85/87, Fountain, CO.  Pastor Allen Knight presided. He was laid to rest at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Colorado Springs, CO.

“WOODY”, CSM (RET)
December 18, 1942-February 3, 2012

George Woodrow Garner Jr., “Woody”, CSM (RET), passed away peacefully February 3, 2012,  at the age of 69, surrounded by his family in his home in California.
  He was born December 18, 1942 in Jefferson, MO.   On December 1, 1962 he married Marion Ann Shaw of England.
  Woody served honorably in the United States Army for more than 27 years achieving the rank of Command Sergeant Major with assignments in Europe, Korea, and multiple combat duty tours in Vietnam.  He received the Bronze Star and Vietnam Cross for Gallantry and was a graduate of the Sergeant Major’s Academy, Class 20.  He retired from the Army as a CSM for the 124th Signal Battalion at Fort Carson, CO on May 31, 1988.   Woody was always known as a soldier’s soldier.
  Woody is survived by his wife, Marion; his children, Melanie, Tina, and Woody; two son-in-laws, a daughter-in-law, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tricia.
  A wake and viewing was held from 5-9 p.m. Friday, February 10, at Dove-Witt Family Mortuary, 6630 S. Highway 85/87, Fountain.  A Memorial Service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday February 11, at Dove-Witt.  Burial with military honors followed at Evergreen Cemetery in Colorado Springs.

  Lyle P. Shykes, 82, passed away February 7, 2012.
  He was born March 3, 1929 in Norcross, MN.  He was a Sergeant in the Air Force service from 1948 until 1952, and then worked for Federal Civil Service for 38 years.
  He was an honorary lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 4636, joining in 1975.  He loved the Chicago White Sox and the Denver Broncos.
  Lyle is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his daughter, Debra (Michael) Cox; his granddaughter, Pamela Cox of Ogden Utah; his sister, Ellen Olthoff of Duluth, MN; his cousin, Gerry of Minneapolis, MN and many nieces and nephews.
  He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Geraldine Shykes; his stepmother, Tena and his brothers, Cecil, Eddie, Wayne and Don.
  Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, February 13, at Dove-Witt Funeral Home, 6630 S. Highway 85/87, Fountain.  A Rosary followed.
  The Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 5354 S. Hwy 85/87, Security, CO.  Burial

BENITA SALLY ARAGON TRUJILLO
December 10, 1924-February 8, 2012

  Benita Sally Aragon Trujillo of Widefield passed away at home February 8, 2012.
  She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, making quilts and spending time with her family.
  She was born December 10, 1924 in New Mexico to John B. Aargon and Miquela Aragon.  She was one of 16 children.
  She is survived by seven sons, Gilbert (Mary) Trujillo of Widefield, Russel (Diana) Trujillo of Colorado Springs, Eddie Trujillo, Avon Trujillo, Roger (Berlinda) Trujillo, and Benny Lee (Shirley) Trujillo, all of Delta, and Jerry (Tammy) Trujillo of Montrose; four daughters, Louise (Albert) Vialpando of Widefield, Michele Duran of Colorado Springs, Rosemary (Richard) Anero of Montrose, Irma Trujillo of New Mexico; one daughter-in-law ,Viola Aragon of Olathe; 49 grandchildren, 176 great-grandchildren and 53 great-great-grandchildren.
  She was preceded in death by her husband, Secunio Trujillo; her son, Joe Aragon Sr. and her daughter, Mary Badial
    Visitation was held from Noon-1 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 5354 S. Highway 85/87, Security, CO. A rosary and mass was followed at 1 p.m.

Fountain Valley became a settlement in 1859 (founded by pioneers Tom Owens and Amos and Mary T Terrell.) They were soon joined by a third family, Mathias and Barbara Lock. Also founded in 1859 were Colorado City, Denver, Golden and Central City. The locals established a charter in 1871 and incorporated in 1903. Fountain is the oldest incorporated town in the Pikes Peak Region.
