Valley Pets Grandfathered For Six Months Regarding Sales Of Puppies And Kittens
There was barely even standing room at the Fountain City Council meeting on January 24 as supporters of Valley Pets and animals rights activists gathered to give statements regarding whether or not Valley Pets should be allowed to continue selling cats and dogs (kittens and puppies.) After three hours, the Council voted 6-1 to allow owner Dave Neverette to continue doing so for six months, with the stipulation that during that time, there are to be no confirmed violations (from signed complaints as reported to the State Department of Agriculture.)  See related story in next week’s issue.  NEWS PHOTO BY KAREN JOHNSON

 

Fountain Valley became a settlement in 1859 (founded by pioneers Tom Owens and Amos and Mary T Terrell.) They were soon joined by a third family, Mathias and Barbara Lock. Also founded in 1859 were Colorado City, Denver, Golden and Central City. The locals established a charter in 1871 and incorporated in 1903. Fountain is the oldest incorporated town in the Pikes Peak Region.
