Man Arrested for Assault at Radio Station
At approximately 9:13 a.m. Wed., Feb., 1, Fountain police officers were dispatched to an assault in progress at the KREL radio station at 490 Willow Springs Road.
According to Janelle Stewart, Police Services Representative for the FPD, officers were informed by Fountain Communications Center that an employee, later identified as Michael Satterfield, had assaulted two fellow employees and was now yelling, “Where is my gun?” Upon arrival, officers entered the building and saw a white male standing in the center of the foyer.
The officers immediately gave verbal commands to the suspect to get down on the floor face down. The suspect ignored the commands of the officers. Officers were then able to restrain the suspect and placed him in hand restraints, Stewart said.
The two victims were then treated for minor injuries on scene. At that time, because it was the El Paso County Sheriff’s Department’s jurisdiction, a sheriff’s deputy arrived on scene and took over the investigation. Satterfield was then transferred to their control, according to Stewart.
He was booked into the Criminal Justice Center on charges of Assault 3 and Obstruction of Telephone/Telegraph.
