Food for Fines in April at Security Public Library

Do you owe fines to Security Public Library? Would you like to clear those fines and do a good deed all at the same time? Now is your chance.

For each non-perishable food donation a library patron makes during April, their fine will be reduced by $2. Just bring your donations to the Service Desk anytime during regular hours.

A spokesperson said, “Do you have long overdue/lost items still on your card? Turn item(s) in and pay your fine* with food items.”

* Max fine per book is $2 = 1 food item *Max fine per DVD is $5 = 2-3 food items *Food for fines is only good on overdue fines. Lost/damaged book charges are not eligible.

Examples of food items being accepted include: canned or boxed soups, canned meats, canned vegetables or fruits, cereals, dried fruit, canned juices, evaporated or powdered milk, peanut butter, macaroni & cheese, baking mixes, pasta, and rice. Items that are expired, damaged, or perishable will not be accepted. Food will be donated to local food pantries.
