William J. Schottdorf

William J. Schottdorf, 100, a long-time Widefield resident, passed away May 9, 2017 in Colorado Springs.

He was born December 16, 1916 in Altoona, PA. He married Daisy Edwards April 2, 1945 in Baltimore, MD.

Bill served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He received many decorations including three Purple Heart Medals. He later worked for and retired from Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in Hartford, CT.

He enjoyed reading, gardening, and woodworking. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW, and attended St. Dominic Catholic Church in Security.

He is survived by his daughter, Jeanette (John) Gallacher; three grandchildren John, Joyce, and Tracy, along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, son, mother, father, four sisters, two brothers, and a granddaughter.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. today (Wednesday, May 17) at Memorial Gardens in Colorado Springs.
