Trojans Host Metro League Swim Championships

The Fountain-Fort Carson Trojan swim team host and have an excellent meet as they participate in the 2017 Colorado Springs Metro League Boys Swimming and Diving Championships, held this past Friday and Saturday at Fountain-Fort Carson.

Brenan Bloyd finished 2nd in the 200 Free and became the CSML Champion in the 100 Free, winning in a time of 48.54.

The first event on Friday brought strong results for the Trojans, as the 200 Medley Relay of Brenan Bloyd, backstroke, Dahlton Hazlett, breaststroke, Mitchell Stevens, butterfly and Daniel Palis, freestyle, qualified for state with a time of 1:48.11. The 200 Freestyle Relay of Brenan Bloyd, Dahlton Hazlett, Johnathan Brown and Daniel Palis also made the state cut with a time 1:35.76.

Three Trojans will be representing their school in individual events. Brenan Bloyd, the 2017 CSML Champion in the 100 Free will swim at state in that event, as well as the 100 Back. CSML Diver of the Year and 2017 CSML Champion in Diving Kyle Fowler and CSML runner-up Tristan Riffe will dive at the state competition.

The 5A Colorado State Swimming and Diving Championships will be held at the VMAC in Thornton, Colorado. Additional information and ticket prices can be found at http://www2.chsaa.org/sports/swimming/boys.asp .
