El Paso County Fair Opens This Saturday

“Sweet Summer Fun” for the Whole Family

Everyone is invited to “Come have some ‘Sweet Summer Fun’ at the 112th El Paso County Fair” from Saturday, July 15, to Saturday, July 22, at the Fairgrounds in Calhan.

This year’s fair features ‘Burck’s Eyes Of The Tiger Encounter’ featuring beautiful, healthy white and gold Bengal tigers that are 7th and 8th generation born and raised by the Burck family. The Burcks proudly present one of the most mesmerizing creatures on Earth. Showcasing their incredible natural behaviors and entertaining while educating audiences of all ages.

The Butterfly Encounter is not only an interactive, walk-through exhibit, but it also shows a video of the life cycle of a butterfly from the egg to the adult butterfly and how to fix a broken wing. Butterfly kits will be available so patrons can take home their very own butterfly and watch the whole hatching process. Feeding sticks are provided so fairgoers can feed and interact with the butterflies.

Comic ventriloquist Joe Gandelman is a family entertainer and does shows for all ages and all occasions. For 27 years, Joe has performed all over the United States and in Canada. All of Joe’s shows feature a big cast of characters, interaction and lots of laughs. He has appeared in big stage variety shows, on television, at fairs, festivals, and many other events. He also does highly acclaimed strolling ventriloquism using his big cast of characters.

The excitement and fun only grows when you go to the rodeo, races, demolition derby, concerts, Amazing Kids Contest, car show, Texas Hold’em tournament, and carnival.
