SEPTEMBER ACTIVITIES

Nature Adventures: Crazy Cattails

Thursday, September 7, 9-10:30 a.m.

Children, ages 3-6 with an adult, will enjoy hands-on activities, puppet shows or

stories, crafts, and a hike. $3 per person including adults & siblings. Reservations

required 520-6745, limit 24 participants.

Fall Bird Count

Saturday, September 9, 7-10:30 a.m.

Help record the number of bird species and populations found in Fountain Creek

Regional Park. $5/person donation suggested.

Twos & Threes Outdoors: Busy Beavers

Thursday, September 14, 9 - 10:15 a.m.

Share the joy of your 2 or 3 year-old child’s discovery as he or she enjoys a story

and an exploration hike outdoors. $3 per person including adults & siblings.

Reservations required 520-6745.

Magic Monarchs

Saturday, September 16, 10-11:30 a.m. and 1-2:30 p.m.

Discover the magical mystery of the monarch migration to Mexico. See an indoor

presentation, make a craft, search for caterpillars and adults to tag and release

for research. $4/member, $5/nonmember.

Volunteer Environmental Education Leader Training

Tuesday, Wednesday, September 19 & 20, 12:30-5:00 p.m.

Train to become a volunteer Environmental Education leader for school field trip

programs at Fountain Creek Nature Center. After your application & interview

process, learn our unique techniques and programs for connecting students to the

wetlands and surrounding ecosystems. You’re sure to make a positive impact on the

A Sonic Listening Walk

Saturday, September 23, 9-10:30 a.m. and 1-2:30 p.m.

Explore the relationship between nature, poetry, music and sound on a playful Sonic

Listening Walk with UCCS students and faculty. Experience the landscape through all

your senses while deepening your love for the environment during in this communal

event for all ages. FREE to the first 20 participants!

Creek Week Kickoff

Saturday, September 30, 8:30 a.m.

Kickoff this clean up week at Fountain Creek Nature Center! Bring your scout,

school, and church groups to meet “Stan the Can” and clean up our waterways. Select

any date, time and location during this week to volunteer for a clean-up, or

participate in one of numerous public events happening in El Paso, Pueblo and Teller

Counties.
