Fountain Police Host "Coffee with a Cop" at Senior Center Fountain Police Chief Chris Heberer and members of his department recently visited the Fountain Valley Senior Center to host a "Coffee with a Cop" event to visit with local seniors. * Rural Area Meal Program

or RAMP, is for individuals age 60 and over who live in El Paso County. This program is for older adults who are not able to get to the nearest congregate meal site. This includes individuals needing assistance due to physical, emotional, or social impairment. Please leave a message at 719-520-6471 with your name and phone number; we will return your call.

* Transportation - (By Appointment Only)

For seniors 60+ who live in the Fountain Valley area. Transportation provided to medical appointments, shopping, personal business, to the senior center, special outings and other destinations in El Paso County. Call 520-6472 at least 48 hours in advance to make arrangements.


* Fountain Theatre: Thursday, Oct. 12. Entrance fee is $8, bus donation $4. Show is "Night of Dark Intent." Dinner will be prior to show at IHOP. Bus leaves St. Dominic's at 5 p.m. *Waiting list after Aug. 30.

* Castle Rock Outlets with lunch prior at the Old Stone Church. Saturday, Oct. 21. Bus donation is $11. Bus leaves St. Dominic's at 11 a.m. *Last day to sign up is Oct.18

* Light Victorian Tea at Miramont Castle with three-course meal. Friday, Nov. 3. Entrance fee $26, bus donation $8. Bus leaves St. Dominic's at 11 a.m.

* Pikes Peak Center" Jeanne Robertson" w/ dinner prior at Old Chicago: Friday, Nov. 17. Entrance fee is$37 for 1st row balcony seats. Bus donation is $6. Bus leaves St. Dominic's at 4:30 p..m. *Waiting list after Nov/ 3.

* The Good Time Day Travelers next meetings are scheduled for 1 p.m. Oct. 10 and Nov. 14.

Other Activities

Are you turning 65 soon? Needing Medicare information or just insurance assistance? PPACG and SHIP (State Health Insurance Assistance Program) will be hosting an information session here from 12:15-2:15 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Fountain Valley Senior Center

Come into the conference room with any questions you might have regarding Medicare, open enrollment or any other insurance and they will answer them! These folks will help you better understand Medicare and your health insurance benefits.

Their goal is to help you become a more informed insurance consumer by knowing what benefits options are available to you and enabling you to make more informed health insurance choices. They are also available to review your current insurance coverage, ensuring you receive the coverage that works best for your personal situation.

Breakfast Club

The Breakfast Club is hosting a breakfast special at 8 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13. Come down to the center for a biscuit and gravy along with juice and coffee for $3. Dee Fye and Gary Youtz are the chefs-in-charge and all proceeds benefit your senior center!

Christmas Arts & Crafts Bazaar

The center's annual Christmas Arts & Crafts Bazaar is open to the public: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28. We have tables available to vendors. If you have handmade items to sell and are interested in making some extra money for Christmas, please come by the FVSC office or call 520-6470 for more information.

Halloween Contest

We are having a Halloween costume contest at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31. Come dressed in your favorite Halloween costume and stay for lunch. First, second and third place winners will be selected.

Volunteer Opportunities:

If interested in volunteering, call Diana or Kelly at 520-6470.

* The Meals on Wheels program always has a need for volunteers to serve as back-up help with this vital service.

* Our Board of Directors is seeking an attorney to be a member.

* Seeking volunteers to help in our front office on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Seeking volunteers for our Kittie Paster Thrift Shoppe.

* The Harmonizers Singing Group is looking for a Co-Director to assist the current Director, Sandy Franklin. Call 520-6470.
