Christmas Happenings at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church

December 6, 2017

We have many ways that we are celebrating the Christmas Season at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church located at 1201 Leta Dr. in Security.

Mark your calendar and join us as we worship and fellowship Sundays throughout the month of December.

At our 9:30 a.m. worship service Sunday, Dec. 17, we will enjoy our annual Christmas Cantata. Our amazing chancel choir will be doing a blend of traditional and original music in Joel Raney’s Hope!

It retells the story of Jesus’ birth through contemporary gospel. We are blessed with such awesome musical talent at Good Shepherd and we hope you can join us to enjoy this year’s cantata.

You’re also invited to join us after all the music for our United Methodist Women’s cookie walk and goodie sale. There’s something special about homemade goodies during the holidays. They just seem to say, “You’re special, and I love you.” Come and stock up on Santa’s favorite treat right after worship service.

We realize that Christmas and New Year holidays are not joyful for some people. They are lonely, in mourning, feeling alienated and cast apart from family celebrations. They experience depression and sadness. And it is very hard to “put on a happy face” for others.

A Blue Christmas service is for people who have lost loved ones and can’t “celebrate” but long to find meaning and hope in the birth of Jesus Christ. It’s been a difficult year for so many people; loss of loved ones, loss of jobs and security. We invite you and anyone you may know and bring them to our Blue Christmas service at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec.23.

Our Sunday morning worship service will be held at the usual time Dec. 24, 9:30 a.m., and then we will celebrate the birth of Jesus at our evening candlelight service at 6:30 p.m. that night.
