Betty Jean Abraham Bryant Reeder

Betty Reeder, 92, resident of Cheyenne Place since 2008, passed away January 3, 2018.

She was born November 20, 1925 in Sacramento, CA to Erma and Lynn Abraham. Her husband of 61 years, Bill Reeder, a 21-year Navy veteran, predeceased her in death in 2003.

In many years traveling as a Navy wife, she continuously served her community by involvement in Girl Scouts, American Field Service, PTA, 4-H, Job's Daughters and others. She was a member of Fountain Valley Chapter #155 and a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Betty held many interesting and challenging positions during her 20 years in Federal Civil Service.

She moved her family frequently and her favorite locations were the Marianas Islands and Hawaii. After Bill retired, they traveled the Orient and Australia.

With her daughters she traveled England, the Pacific, the Mediterranean, Panama and the East Coast. With her granddaughters she visited many places including the southwestern US. Always a patriot, Colonial Williamsburg and the national cemeteries were among her favorite destinations.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Pamela Jean (Richard) Olachia and Sandra Jean (John) Engs; her granddaughters, Tamera Jean Stroh, Deborah Jean Engs, and Sarah Jean Benavides, and her great-grandchildren, Nickolas Stroh and Katherine and Abigail Benavides.

She was predeceased by their son, Lynn Richard, her parents, and her brother and sister-in-law, Lynn and Audrey.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 12, at Cheyenne Place, 945 Tenderfoot Hill Road, Colorado Springs. Interment will be in the family niche at East Lawn, Sacramento, California.
