District 3 Seeking Residents for Boundary Committee

January 10, 2018

Widefield School District 3 (WSD3) is seeking stakeholders who are residents of the district to serve on the district’s Boundary Committee. Parents, staff members, students in grades 10 and 11, and residents of the district who do not currently have students in WSD3 schools are welcome to apply at the link below.

In November 2017, the community voted to approve a bond issue. Proceeds of the bond issue will be used, among other things, to build a new PreK-8 school in WSD3. The Boundary Committee, formed by Superintendent Mr. Scott Campbell, will study current district enrollment boundaries and prospective future boundaries needed as a result of the new school construction. The committee will use a collaborative input model to make boundary recommendations to the superintendent to address the new school that will be built. Ultimately, the decision about boundary changes must be approved by the Board of Education.

The Boundary Committee will meet the first and third Wednesdays of the month. Please be sure you can attend all meetings before applying. Dates are: February 7 and 21, March 7 and 21, April 4 and 18, May 2 and 16, June 6 and 20, July 18 and August 1 and 15, September 5 and 19, October 3 and 17, November 7 and December 5.

Meeting times are from 4 - 6 p.m. at the WSD3 Administration Building at 1820 Main Street in Security.

Applications are due on Monday, January 22 by 5 p.m. Those who are selected to serve on the committee will be notified by email on January 31, and the first meeting will be on February 7. The link for the application is:

Leading the Boundary Committee will be Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Leadership Facilitator Connie Florell and Chief Operations Officer Dennis Neal.

This committee will study current district enrollment boundaries and prospective future boundaries and make recommendations to the Superintendent and Board of Education.
