A Visit to Colorado

 

Today I want to share a story taken from a newspaper column written in 1914 and published in Wisconsin! So as you read along, try to remember that!

The story of the settlement of the Pike's Peak Region reads like a fairy tale. It came into prominence when, in the winter of 1858, a band of adventurers from Lawrence, Kansas, camped in what is now, the Garden of the Gods. They found a bit of gold in Fountain Creek near present day Manitou. The call "Pike's Peak or bust" would echo until today.
