Holy Week Schedule for Good Shepherd United Methodist Church

April 12, 2017

While driving to church on Easter Sunday a few years ago, Peggy Key of Portage, MI shared with her children the Easter story. “This is the day we celebrate Jesus’ coming back to life,” Peggy explained. Immediately, her 3-year old son piped up from the back seat...”Will he be in church today?”

Easter is the most important Christian holiday, even surpassing Christmas. We hope you will plan to be in church during Holy Week because so many significant events are planned at Good Shepherd Church.

The Maundy Thursday service begins at 7 p.m. April 13 when we will share in Jesus’ Last Supper. The “Maundy” offering that night will go to the mission of Dr. Jeff and Elizabeth Perry as they return to the Sudan to work with refugees fleeing war and conflict.

The Good Friday Service starts at 7 p.m. April 14. Back by popular demand, this service brings home the betrayals, abandonment and loneliness Jesus experienced on the road to the Cross.

There is an Easter Egg hunt at 1 p.m. Saturday and finally a resurrection celebration at 9:30 a.m. Easter Sunday, April 16. The Spirit of Christ will be with us.

We hope you will be able to join us this week at 1201 Leta Drive in Security.
