April District Work Period

April 26, 2017

I enjoyed the opportunity to hear from so many constituents during my Town Hall Tour. In three days, I held free and open Town Hall Meetings in each of the five counties of the Fifth Congressional District. In every county, we had a spirited discussion and witnessed democracy in action.

I appreciate everyone who took the time to participate. Hearing feedback from across the political spectrum helps make me a better Representative and helps to inform me as I make decisions in Washington DC.

Please let me know if you require any assistance with a federal government agency by contacting my local office at (719) 520-0055.

I am honored to serve as your Representative in Washington.

Stormwater EPA Letter

I have sent a letter to Attorney General Jeff Sessions and EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt drawing their attention to the EPA's lawsuit against the City of Colorado Springs.

Despite the bold efforts undertaken by our local officials to address stormwater issues, the EPA seems determined to seek civil penalties that could cost Colorado Springs millions of dollars. This is the kind of lawsuit that gives the EPA its infamous reputation of overreach. Every single dime going to litigate this issue and pay any fines that are imposed should be directed to fixing the problem.

If the goal of the EPA is to ensure that the City of Colorado Springs improves the management of its stormwater, the EPA should work with our local officials to provide technical expertise and funding for infrastructure improvements instead of diverting the city's limited resources toward fighting this burdensome litigation.

Supporting the I-25 Gap Coalition

I wish to commend the many state and local leaders who have been diligently working on the important issue of widening I-25 between Monument and Castle Rock. The Coalition represents a strong and unified effort along the Front Range to move this project into the State's top transportation priorities. It is absolutely vital that the section known as the "Gap" is widened and improved at the earliest possible time. I have stressed the importance of this project to the leadership in the Colorado Department of Transportation and the U.S. Department of Transportation and I will continue to do everything I can in Congress to ensure that the funding needed to complete this project is available to the state of Colorado.

Congratulations to Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch

I want to extend my hearty congratulations to Neil Gorsuch on his confirmation as the newest Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court. I am confident in his credentials, his experience, and his firm commitment to the Constitution. Justice Gorsuch is an outstanding representative of the great state of Colorado, and I am convinced that he will be an exceptional servant to the American people on the bench of the Supreme Court.
