City of Fountain Now Accepting Applications for Next Citizen's Academy

August 9, 2017

The City of Fountain is pleased to announce the second annual Citizen’s Academy starting Sept. 21!

The Citizen’s Academy is a fun, highly-interactive program with the goal of connecting the City staff and elected officials with the citizens and demonstrating what it takes to run the City via a hands-on approach. Each week highlights a different City department; Academy participants are able to learn different police tactics via a “shoot/don’t shoot” scenario with the Police Department, experience a day in the life of a firefighter while wearing all the necessary gear and performing fire mitigation procedures, tour our City water wells and electric substations, and many more exciting activities throughout the program.

The goal of the Citizen’s Academy is to cultivate new community leaders and to leave a lasting, positive impression with the residents.

“We are encouraging any City of Fountain resident over the age 16 who wants to have fun while learning what Fountain has to offer to sign up now as we have limited space available,” Economic Development Specialist Jennifer Stewart explained.

The Citizen’s Academy will be held from Sept. 21 to Nov. 9, on Thursdays, from 6-9 p.m.

To apply for the Citizen’s Academy, visit the city’s homepage: and click the link for the 2017 Citizen’s Academy Application. An Academy flyer is also provided on the homepage.
