Nature Adventures: Lovely Lady Bugs

Thursday, August 10, 9 – 10:30 a.m.

Children, ages 3-6 with an adult, will enjoy hands-on activities, puppet shows or stories, crafts, and a hike. $3 per person including adults & siblings. Reservations required 520-6745, limit 24 participants.


Prairie Dogs, Saturday, August 5, 9 – 10:30 a.m.

Prairie dogs are an indicator species of a healthy environment and they’re so doggone cute!  We’ll explore the community of the dogs through an interactive PowerPoint presentation, make a craft, then caravan to a nearby dog town to view them.  $3/member, $4/nonmember.


Night Sky Program:  “What’s Up Tonight & Native American Skies” Friday, August 11, 7:30 – 9:30PM

Join Bruce Bookout and the astronomers from the Colorado Springs Astronomical Society to discover what’s in the night sky along with correlating Native American star stories!  $4 per member, $5 per nonmember.


Free Story Time with Puppets

Saturday, August 12, 10 a.m.

Join a staff member for special animal stories with a special guest puppet too! Then enjoy the trails on your own. Geared toward pre-schoolers.  FREE!


Twos & Threes Outdoors: Wiggly Worms

Thursday, August 17, 9 – 10:15 a.m.

Share the joy of your 2 or 3 year-old child’s discovery as he or she enjoys a story and an exploration hike outdoors. $3 per person including adults & siblings. Reservations required 520-6745.



Fountain Creek Treasure Hunt—Intro to

Letterboxing, Saturday, August 19, 9 – 11 a.m.

Join us for Letterboxing—an outdoor family activity similar to geocaching in which you make stamps, follow clues, and find hidden caches while hiking and enjoying the park.  It’s an intro, stamp making workshop, and investigation all rolled into one!  Great for all ages.  $4 per member, $5 per nonmember.



Volunteer Orientation

Saturday, August 19, 10 a.m. – NOON

New and interested volunteers may attend this orientation to learn more about becoming a volunteer—the commitment and the benefits!  Applicants must be 18 or older.  Contact Paula at [email protected] to register.
