* Rural Area Meal Program

or RAMP, is for individuals age 60 and over who live in El Paso County. This program is for older adults who are not able to get to the nearest congregate meal site. This includes individuals needing assistance due to physical, emotional, or social impairment. Please leave a message at 719-520-6471 with your name and phone number; we will return your call.

* Transportation - (By Appointment Only)

For seniors 60+ who live in the Fountain Valley area. Transportation provided to medical appointments, shopping, personal business, to the senior center, special outings and other destinations in El Paso County. Call 520-6472 at least 48 hours in advance to make arrangements.


* Ft. Logan: Monday, Sept. 11. Bus donation is $14. Bus leaves St. Dominic’s at 8:30 a.m. Lunch at restaurant of choice after. *Sign up no later than the Thursday prior.

* M Lazy C Ranch Chuck Wagon Dinner: Saturday, Sept. 16. Entrance fee is $44 and includes gratuity, chuck wagon, hayride, dinner (chicken or steak), entertainment and dancing. Bus donation is $10. Bus leaves St. Dominic’s at 5 p.m. *Waiting list after Aug. 25.

* Cripple Creek Gold Mine Tour with lunch: Saturday, Sept. 23. Bus donation $14, goldmine tour $20. Bus leaves St. Dominic’s at 10 a.m. *Registration ends Sept.15

* Good Time Day Travelers next meetings will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12 and Oct. 10

* Fountain Theatre: Thursday, Oct. 12. Entrance fee is $8, bus donation $4. Show is “Night of Dark Intent.” Dinner will be prior to show at IHOP. Bus leaves St. Dominic’s at 5 p.m. *Waiting list after Aug. 30.

* Bishop’s Castle: Monday, Oct. 2. No entrance fee, but donations are appreciated at Bishop’s Castle. Bus donation $14. Lunch will be prior at Cracker Barrel in Pueblo. Bus leaves St. Dominic’s at 10:30 a.m. *Registration ends Sept. 22.

* Ft. Logan: Monday, Oct. 9. Bus donation is $14. Bus leaves St. Dominic’s at 8:30 a.m. Lunch at restaurant of choice after. *Sign up no later than the Thursday prior.

Other Activities

The Breakfast Club is returning at 8 a.m. on Wednesdays, beginning Sept. 13. Come down to the center for biscuits and gravy along with your choice of orange juice or coffee for $3. Dee Fye and Gary Youtz are the chefs-in-charge and all proceeds benefit your senior center!

Boot-Scootin’Boogie: 4-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13.

Admission at the door is $2. Food will be provided and entertainment for the evening will be provided by Dennis Crosser. Come down with your family and friends and enjoy an evening out.

Golf Tournament Fundraiser is Sept. 18

Our 15th annual fundraiser golf tournament will take place Sept. 18 at Cheyenne Shadows Golf Course on Ft. Carson. Cost is $400 per team of four players or $100 per individual player. Proceeds will benefit the Fountain Valley Senior Center and Salvation Army of the Fountain Valley; all prize contributions are tax deductible. Please call 520-6470 for more information.

Our Christmas Arts & Crafts Bazaar is open to the public: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28.

We have tables available to vendors. If you have handmade items to sell and are interested in making some extra money for Christmas, please come by the FVSC office or call 520-6470 for more information.

Volunteer Opportunities:

If interested in volunteering, call Diana or Kelly at 520-6470.

* The Meals on Wheels program always has a need for volunteers to serve as back-up help with this vital service.

* Our Board of Directors is seeking an attorney to be a member.

* Seeking volunteers to help in our front office on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Seeking volunteers for our Kittie Paster Thrift Shoppe.

* The Harmonizers Singing Group is looking for a Co-Director to assist the current Director, Sandy Franklin. Call 520-6470.
