Taryn Lindsey was dominant on defense against Palmer with three rebounds and four steals.

There was plenty of high school sports action last week following the holiday break.

BOYS BASKETBALL

FOUNTAIN-FORT CARSON GOES 0-2

The Trojans lost 59-50 at home to Liberty Saturday in a Colorado Springs Metro (Class 5A) Metro League game and lost 79-77 in overtime to Mountain Vista Thursday in a non-league game.

Fountain-Fort Carson finished the week 2-8 overall and 1-1 in league.

Fountain-Fort Carson trailed Liberty 32-22 at halftime. The Trojans outscored their visitors 28-27 in the second half but it was too little, too late.

Devante Logan led FFCHS with 12 points.

Mountain View and FFCHS were tied at 69 at the end of regulation. The Trojans were outscored 10-8 in over to suffer the loss.

Rashon Barron led FFC with 16 points. Keyshawn Maltbia added 12 points, Tyshaun Durham and Logan added 11 points apiece.

The Trojans host a league game with Coronado Friday.

WIDEFIELD GOES 2-0

The Glads won 55-37 at Sierra Friday in a Colorado Springs (Class 4A) Metro League game and beat Pueblo East 63-52 at home Thursday in a non-league game.

Widefield finished the week 6-3 overall and 1-1 in league.

Widefield led Sierra 23-13 at halftime and never looked back.

Tre Pierre led Widefield with 17 points. Lucas Lacy added 11 points and TJ Davis 10 points.

Widefield only led Pueblo East 28-26 halftime. However, the Glads outscored the visitors 35-26 in the second half to record the win.

Pierre led Widefield with 18 points. Lacy and Randall Days added 11 points apiece.

The Glads host Woodland Park Saturday and play at Mitchell Tuesday in two league games.

MESA RIDGE GOES 1-0

The Grizzlies beat The Classical Academy 79-52 at home Saturday in their CSML (Class 4A) opener.

Mesa Ridge finished the week 4-4 overall.

Mesa Ridge led 30-23 at halftime. The Grizzlies outscored the visitors 49-29 in the second half.

Adonis Wallace led Mesa Ridge with 18 points. Zac Ring added 15 points while Deven Nelson and Devon Ricketts added 11 points apiece.

The Grizzlies play at Harrison Friday, host Elizabeth Saturday, and play at Woodland Park Tuesday in three league games.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

FOUNTAIN-FORT CARSON GOES 1-1

The Lady Trojans lost 54-46 at Liberty Saturday and beat Palmer 54-32 at home last Wednesday in two league games.

Fountain-Fort Carson finished the week 5-5 overall and 1-1 in league.

Fountain-Fort Carson and Liberty were tied at 20 at halftime. However, the Lady Trojans were outscored 34-26 in the second half to suffer the loss.

Taryn Lindsey led FFCHS with 17 points. Kiana Jackson grabbed 10 rebounds.

The Lady Trojans led Palmer 25-19 at halftime. FFCHS outscored the visitors 29-13 in the second half to secure the win.

Samiyah Worrell led FFC with 14 points. Danae Christensen added 11 points.

Fountain-Fort Carson plays a league game at Coronado Friday.

MESA RIDGE GOES 1-0

The Lady Grizzlies won 54-43 at TCA Saturday in their league opener.

Mesa Ridge finished the week 5-2.

Mesa Ridge only led 25-22 at halftime. However, the Lady Grizzlies outscored the hosts 29-21 in the second half to secure the win.

Chloe Welch led Mesa Ridge with 18 points. Serin Dunne added 14 points. Ashley Bowen grabbed 10 rebounds.

The Lady Grizzlies host Harrison Thursday, play at Elizabeth Saturday, and host Woodland Park Tuesday in three league games.

WIDEFIELD GOES 2-0

The Lady Glads beat Sierra 46-45 at home Friday in a league game and best Pueblo East 46-23 on the road Thursday in a non-league game.

Widefield and Sierra were tied at 34 at the end of the third quarter. The Lady Glads outscored the visitors 12-11 in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Shynesti Johnson led Widefield with 12 points. Erika Warner added 11 points. Johnson grabbed 13 rebounds.

Widefield led Pueblo East 20-16 at halftime and never looked back.

Johnson led Widefield in scoring (15 points) and rebounds (13.) Aaliyah Ricketts added 12 points.

The Lady Glads play at Woodland Park Saturday and host Mitchell Tuesday in two league games.

Kyra Davis drives towards the basket.  She had six points, four rebounds and a steal in the Lady Trojans' 54-32 win over Palmer.
