Good Shepherd Church Easter Cantata & Lenten Preparations

February 7, 2018

Beginning today Wednesday, Feb. 7, the Good Shepherd Chancel Choir will start work on our new Easter Cantata. It has been arranged by Lloyd Larson and Joel Raney. “Hope in the Shadows” retraces the final steps and journey of Jesus to the cross.

It is a mixture of traditional and contemporary hymns and songs set in a variety of styles. Rehearsals will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesdays in the sanctuary for any who are interested. We would love to hear your voice in our choir.

Don’t forget to join us at 5 p.m. next Tuesday, Feb. 13, for our annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper and come back at 6 p.m. the evening of Wednesday, Feb. 14, for our Ash Wednesday service. Ash Wednesday is considered a day to begin the process of cleansing the soul, a process that continues throughout the six weeks of Lent.

After the penitent have confessed their sins and repented, ashes are placed on their foreheads as sign of repentance. Some Christians enter into a fast from specific foods, candy, television, or other tempting activity during Lent.

You can keep up with all our activities and services on our website at or follow us on Facebook at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, Colorado Springs.
