Stars of the Month Recognized

The John Lynch Star of the Month program recognizes middle and high school student-athletes for their accomplishments in academics, athletics, and community involvement. Each month eight winners are chosen by a selection committee at the John Lynch Foundation and are invited to attend an awards ceremony at the Denver Broncos training facility in Dove Valley. At the facility they meet John Lynch in person, receive their award, media recognition, and a behind the scenes tour of the facility. Congratulations to the following students for being selected as the John Lynch Star of the Month for December 2017:

*  Teyanna Norris - 12th Grade, Fountain-Fort Carson High School

*  Lawrence Walker, Jr. -  8th Grade, Carson Middle School

Kaitlyn Romero, an eighth grade student at Fountain Middle School, is the only middle school student enrolled in the Fountain-Fort Carson High School/Fountain Police Department (FPD) Explorers Program. The program is in its second year of existence, and Kaitlyn is the third member to be named Sergeant. There are approximately 13 active members. As a Sergeant, Kaitlyn will be responsible for about five other FPD Explorer Cadets.  In order to obtain the rank of Sergeant, Kaitlyn had to complete a personal portfolio, a resume, a paragraph about herself, and an oral board which consisted of a three-panel interview process. This promotion is an example of Kaitlyn's dedication and perserverance as well as a wonderful partnership between FFC8 and FPD.  She is pictured at right with Fountain Middle School Principal Dr. Bill Dallas, School Board Vice President Dale Terrell, Commander Austin Starnes, Superintendent Dr. Keith Owen, and Kaitlyn's father, Mr. Perez.
