The Lady Glads hosted The mustangs of Fort Morgan Friday night in a Colorado State Basketball Tournament Class 4A second-round game and walked away with 80-38 victory.

Widefield, 19-5, played at Holy Family, 21-3, Tuesday night in a Sweet 16 game. The winner advanced to play the winner between D'Evelyn, 18-6, and Golden, 20-4, Friday night in a Great 8 matchup.

Our Lady Glads started off strong by tripling the mustangs score by the end of the first quarter, with a 24-8 lead. This kept on going as the Lady Glads scored in double digits every quarter except one.

The Widefield Lady Glads huddle up before Friday's game against Fort Morgan.

Senior Charisse Fairley led Widefield with 20 points, six assists and four rebounds and was named Player of the Game for her effort. Her teammates Aaliyah Ricketts (19 points) and Shynesti Johnson (12 points) combined for 31 points.

There were some pretty big plays throughout the game also. Some in mind were at the end of the first half when Ricketts tried for a trey, and missed but there was a foul and she ended up getting two out of the three free throws. Also sophomore Erika Warner hit a fade away jumper in the third quarter while she was being double teamed.

"I think we played great," Johnson said when asked how she felt her team played during the first playoff game. "Our defense was solid because we communicated with each other and we created a lot of good looks on offense by running through our plays with intensity."
