Registration Open for El Paso County's Citizens College

Program Provides Opportunity to Learn About Your County Government

El Paso County is now enrolling citizens for a three-day Citizens College scheduled for May 9, 12 and 19.

Citizens College is presented by the El Paso County Public Information Office. The program provides participants the opportunity to learn in a classroom-style, accelerated-education environment about the multi-faceted, statutory functions and customary services that El Paso County provides to its residents. County Officials as well as division and department staff leaders will present information on their offices and departments, the services they provide, and how those services are


“This is a great opportunity for citizens to learn about all the services the County is required to provide within the community,” said Darryl Glenn, President of the Board of County Commissioners. “You’ll hear from, and interact with, elected officials and County staff to see and understand what we’re doing in El Paso County.

Citizens College is perfect for anyone who wants a better perspective of how our local government operates and what distinguishes us from other governing bodies.”

The Citizens College topics include: County Government 101, Child and Adult Protection and Economic Assistance Programs, Criminal Prosecution and Investigation, Road and Bridge Operations and Maintenance, Land Use and Zoning, Veterans Services, Parks and Recreation, Environmental Services, Property Tax Assessments and Collections, and County Budget and Finance.
