Fountain Fire Department personnel who enjoyed the spaghetti dinner included, back left, EMT Kenda James, front, EMT Eric Markowski, left, and EMS Captain Nate Lenn.

On April 5, members of Fountain Valley met with 17 officers present and eight members on the sidelines.

The members on the sidelines included Bill Heintzen, Bob Harper, Zelda Klein, Dan Brooks, Kim Brooks, Bob Buxman, Les Saylor, and Shirley Day. Associate Matron Christal Bricke and Associate Patron John Reinking carried in the Bible prior to the official opening.

Worthy Matron, Valerie Evans introduced Worthy Grand Matron Shirley Day and Worthy Grand Patron Les Saylor West of the Altar. Her Easter Greetings were taken from a fun book about animals popular at Easter. (Baby Chicks, Peter Cotton Tail, etc.) They were then escorted to the East and were given Grand Honors.

C.T. Elliott, Worthy Patron and a General Grand Chapter Committee Member was escorted West of the Altar for introduction and returned to the East where he and Valerie both received Grand Honors. Marsha Carlson and Bill Carlson were escorted West of the Altar and introduced. They returned to the East and received Grand Honors. Grand Officers Bob Harper and Tish Neagles were introduced West of Esther's station. District Lecturer Sharon Heintzen was also introduced. Fifty - year members were Daisey Saylor, Margaret Elliott, and Marsha Carlsen. They were introduced West of Esther's Station.

Secretary David Kochis read the communications. Frank Cancino had sent a note to thank the chapter for their thoughts and prayers when he lost his wife, Barbara Cancino. Both he and Barbara had been members of our chapter a few years ago. Other communications included an invitation to attend the Waunita Chapter #37 meeting when Worthy Grand Matron Shirley Day and Worthy Grand Patron Les Saylor and Grand Family visit Gunnison.

Valerie's program for the evening involved talking about the branch of reservists that were called Waves and introduced November 23, 1942. They operated under the United States Coast Guard and were under the Navy. Eleven thousand women signed the Spars. It was a very interesting program.

Following the program, refreshments were served by Marsha and Bill Carlson. The tables were decorated with Easter table cloths, bunny rabbits, and candy. All enjoyed the egg salad sandwiches, cake, and pink punch. Most stayed to eat and visit awhile.

Our chapter did have our Spaghetti Dinner March 31. It was a great success. We enjoyed having Fountain Fire Department personnel as guests for a free meal. They came in pairs in their fire trucks. The kids were glad to get up into the trucks and pretend they were firefighters.

The FFD personal attending included: Tyler Lowe, David Lummis, Andrew Green, Marty Steckel, Jeremiah Dail, Eddie Chapman, Eric Markowski, Nate Lenn, Eliot Pyles, and Kenda James. Our chapter owes a big "Thank You" to Bill and Sharon Heintzen. They donate their time and money to coordinate this "yearly happening." Thank you to all of those who came and helped to make this a success.

Our next meeting will be April 19. Hope to see you there!
