Runaway Train?


I have told the story of the Great Fountain Disaster, and another train wreck or two, but this story has an unusual twist. For those who do not know, a freight train rolled down to Fountain and crashed into a train at the Santa Fe Passenger station the 1880’s. The fire it caused was made worse by a carload of dynamite and a tank full of oil. Other trains crashed in this area over the years, but this one is in 1947, just after WWII.
