EPA Chooses to Protect DoD and Industry from "PR Nightmare" Rather Than Protecting People From Poisonous Chemicals in Drinking Water

 

Recently released EPA emails documented their decision to suppress the truth about PFAS exposure. PFAS are the chemicals in the drinking water supply of over 60,000 El Paso County residents. ATSDR, the agency tasked with assessing health effects associated with chemicals, published toxicology data supporting a "safe" exposure level of 12ppt, arguing the current EPA advisory 70ppt was not low enough. Fearing a "public relations nightmare", EPA and White House staff decided to keep the truth from the public by withholding the document.
