ountain-Fort Carson Boys Track Team Wins Second Straight State Championship Members of the Fountain-Fort Carson boys track team with their Class 5A Colorado State Track and Field Championships trophy and banner. It was the Trojans' second straight championship and the team's fourth in five years.

Several local tracksters brought home medals from the Colorado State Track and Field Championships conducted Thursday-Saturday in Denver.

The top eight finishers received medals. The top nine finishers scored points for their team.




The Fountain-Fort Carson boys track team won its second straight championship. The Trojans have now won four championships in five years.

The Trojans finished with 100 points. Cherry Creek was second with 71 points.

Jalen Lyon led the way for the Trojans, bringing home four first-place medals. Lyon won the 200M and 400M Dashes and ran the final leg on the Trojans' 4x200 and 4x400M Relay teams, both of which finished first.

Jequan Hogan also brought home four medals. Hogan won the High Jump, was second in the Triple Jump, finished third in the Long Jump, and was seventh in the 110M Hurdles.

Jawuan Tate took first in the discus with a throw of 158'9". Jason Ferrell took first in the 300M Hurdles and was on the medaling 4x100M and 4x200M Relay teams.

On the girls' side, both the 4x200M and 800M Sprint Relay teams medaled.

Fountain-Fort Carson Jalen Lyon crosses the final line after running the anchor leg on the Trojans' first-place winning 4x100M Relay team. He brought home a total of four first-place medals.

Several District 3 tracksters brought home medals from the state meet. Widefield's Aaliyah Ricketts brought home two medals, including one first-place medal.


Aaliyah Ricketts Takes First in Triple Jump

Ricketts claimed a championship in the Triple Jump with a lap of 36'6" and finished third in the Long Jump with a leap of 17'.

On the boys' side, Cole Munoz was seventh in the 3200M Run in a time of 9:38.83. Elijah Whatley was fourth in the 100M Hurdles with a time of 15.01. The 4x100M Relay team finished eighth with a time of 44.70. Team members included Frankie Ingraldi, Myreik Goodwin, Whatley, and Nathan Broadbent.



On the girls' side, Kelly Farnham took fifth in the discus with at throw of 126'

On the boys' side, Tyrell Smith took eighth in the 200-meter dash in a time of 22.80.
