VFW Post 6461 Remembers Fallen on Memorial Day

ncoming Post 6461 Commander Mark Latham prepares to place the American flag, the symbol of our nation, on the post's Veterans Memorial. Auxiliary President Rena Cales, who placed a white flower on the Veterans Memorial, explained the flag is a symbol of our nation, the red flower symbolizes our remembrance. The white flower symbolizes unselfish courage of all men and women who fought for freedom.The blue flower is for brave deeds of our service members who gave their lives for our freedom. Also placing flowers at the memorial (as pictured at far right with Cales) were incoming Jr. Vice Commander Tom Garrison and incoming Sr. Vice Commander Mitch Littler.

VFW Post 6461 Fontaine Qui Bouille Post in Fountain hosted a Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 28.

Post Commander Russell Wilcox shared how those who made the ultimate sacrifice, fought for something greater than ourselves. He said Memorial Day is an opportunity to acknowledge and honor the men and women who fought to preserve our way of life, adding America would not be the great nation it is today without their service.
