Flag Day

 

You're a grand old flag,

You're a high-flying flag

And forever in peace may you wave.

Flag day is one of the least celebrated nationally recognized holidays. There are no greeting cards, no exchange of presents, no parades, no banners, no Grinch's, Santa's, or cute bunnies. There are flag burnings though to show displeasure with the government or the country represented by that flag.

Most of us are familiar with the story of Betsy Ross hand sewing the first version. We also think we know what the colors represent. Some of us know the story of the marine's flag raising on Mt. Suribachi or...
