A Plane Crash

 

I have been reading the newspapers from the World War II era and have come up with many airplane crashes around here. Peterson was a training base, but it was not training new pilots, there were experienced pilots learning to fly a difficult airplane. This crash, however this was an airplane that went down in the weather. Long before jets, the airplanes flew a lot lower. This was an Army Air Corp accident, just before there was a U.S. Air Force.

In September, 1947 three Army fliers lost their lives on Spruce Mountain north of Palmer Lake. You may not think of that hill being that tall, but...
