Local School District Administrators Participate With Local Police in Annual School Safety Training Exercise

During a training exercise last week at Fountain-Fort Carson High School, Fountain Police Officers Matt Davidson (left) and Brendan Murt approach a hostage in a simulated shooting of a gunman in the hallway. The exercise involved police officers from Fountain and Salida as well as Fort Carson Military Police. Administrators from School Districts 3 and 8 also participated.

Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8 and Widefield School District 3 school and district administrators participated in safety training exercises with Fountain and Military Police personnel last Wednesday and Thursday at Fountain-Fort Carson High School. Several police officers from Salida also participated in the exercises.

Training each day featured three emergency scenarios: an active shooter, a student with a knife, and two parents involved in a custody dispute/discipline issue. Participants rotated through the different scenarios.
