On an interesting story from the Fountain Police in the 1920's, they had furnished Marshal M.O. Askey a new piece of equipment. A motorcycle had been purchased for his use to enforce the town's new speed limit through town. This was done after several incidents on the streets of Fountain. It seems motorists were making Main Street and some of the others their speedway!

The speed limit in town was 23 miles an hour in the residential area and 15 on Main Street in the business district, the same as Colorado Springs. There was no information given about the costs of a ticket, but Colorado Sprin...
