Good Shepherd Congregation Preparing for Mission Trip

Good Shepherd United Methodist Church members are preparing for a mission trip this year. The trip is scheduled for Aug. 25-Sept. 1, with eight team members this year.

The mission involves traveling to Salt Lake City, Utah to work in the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) West depot representing Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Security.

“When we arrive they will tell us what our job is for the week,” a spokesperson said. “We have assembled health kits (the most requested kit both within the U.S. and around the world following natural disasters), school kits, layette kits and flood buckets. Sometimes we provide quality control, reviewing kits sent in from churches to ensure they meet all of the customs agreements.”

“We thank you for your financial support, prayers, and contributions of items for the kits we take along and your on-going support of this outreach on behalf of the church,” she continued. “We are an extension of the Fountain Valley as we seek to be the hands and feet of Christ and we will report back on the trip and the adventures we had.”
