Body Found


I told this tale a few years back, but when I researched Fort Carson I found another item. This tale started in 1920. A fellow who was in the Pueblo County jail, escaped, and was suspected to have jumped a north- bound train. A search came up with no good results. A shaggy black hat and pile of clothes was found near a tree on Charter Oak Ranch, west of Fountain in early May, 1921. In the area they found scraps of old lumber fashioned into a hut.

The drovers for the Harper Brothers were out searching for a calf when they saw a strange sight. Upon looking closely the clothes, weather beaten...
