Fountain City Council Moves Forward Toward Placing SB-152 Exemption on Ballot in November

Move Would Allow City To Explore Broadband Options

At its July 24 meeting, the Fountain City Council heard information about a ballot measure that will give Fountain residents the option of approving an SB-152 exemption. Mayor Gabe Ortega explained 118 communities have opted out in Colorado and said it has to go to an election for Fountain to do so. If approved it would open the door for Fountain to explore providing broadband services for the community- either on its own, possibly in a partnership with a company, or having a company provide these services.
