No Place is Immune to Racism

One of the top movies of the summer will undoubtedly be "BlacKkKlansman" from director Spike Lee. The film is based on a true story of a Colorado Springs police detective named Ron Stallworth who infiltrated the Ku Klux Klan in 1978 and 1979. The kicker is that Stallworth is black.

The movie is based on Stallworth's book called "Black Klansman." (The idea to add the third "k" in the movie title apparently came from director Lee.) I read the book to prepare to interview Stallworth, who now lives in his hometown of El Paso, Texas, where I also have lived for most of the past 32 years. A few p...
