Horse Trouble

I've done stories about some of the stories of unusual characters I have learned about in the past, but this one might be about his horse! This one starts in police court in Colorado Springs in the early 1890's. An old cowman had been up in Ute Pass herding a few cows.

It seems this "ranchman" had been grazing cows up in the hills, near the booming town of Divide. This was about when Cripple Creek was just getting going and there was getting to be a lot of new people in the area. He started to moved his cows down onto the plains again. He had bought a new wagon and horse during his time up...
