Interim? What's That?

Daniel Webster defines the term interim as "a period of time between events." And supposedly your state legislators are in session 120 days, from the beginning of January to early May. Then they have their "interim."
I haven't figured out yet when this actually starts. It's true that during this time we are not officially in session. But almost every one of us is on at least one committee or task force that meets several times during the "interim."
