The public is invited to attend a special genealogy program at the Fountain Library Sept. 6 about The Ballad of William Magee, who is buried at Fountain's Fairview Cemetery.

All are welcome at Fountain Library's genealogy program Wednesday, Sept. 6, at 7 p.m.

UCCS Professors Barbara Headle and Amy Haines will share stories of their genealogical and historical research on William Magee, a resident of Fountain's Fairview Cemetery, and a Civil War veteran.

Discover how his unremarkable grave, restored by the Friends of Fountain Fairview Cemetery, revealed not only his family's history, but placed him in the greater national story, though there is a continuing mystery that was uncovered!

Cemetery Tour is Sept. 22

This special event is scheduled before the 7th annual cemetery tour, which is set for Saturday, Sept. 22.

The all new tour theme this year is Fountain, the All-America City, and the hosts will highlight the diversity of Fountain's population throughout her history. Community volunteers and UCCS students will portray area residents of the past, and lead these hour long tours.

Ticket prices are $5 for adults, $3 for seniors, military and students, and children under 12 are free. All proceeds go to Fairview Cemetery conservation work.
