EPA Community Engagement Roundtable Discussion Focuses on Issues Related to PFAS Chemicals in Local Groundwater Supplies

Attending a recent two-day session with representatives from the Environmental Protection Agency were many local and state officials, representatives from Fountain Utilities, Widefield Water and Sanitation District, Security Water and Sanitation District and Stratmoor Valley's Water District; as well as numerous concerned citizens.

The second part of a two-day Environmental Protection Agency, EPA, community engagement event was held Wednesday, Aug. 8, in Colorado Springs, focusing on PFAS, Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl substances, a family of chemicals used extensively in fire fighting foam to suppress airport fires and during training exercises at military bases in a number of different states across the country. These chemicals have also been used for industrial and manufacturing purposes.
