City of Fountain Mayor Gabe Ortega explained an extraordinary circumstance that took place at the local Starbucks store recently, and said he was pleased to recognize a man who went out of his way to help a local family by presenting to him the city's first "Pure Colorado" award.

The mayor explained during a recent council meeting that during a rainstorm, when the Johansson family was scheduled to have senior pictures done for their oldest daughter Sydney, the family took cover in Starbucks. As they were explaining how this was their only chance to do a photo shoot because Sydney had surgery planned soon, Christian Lopez rearranged the store to set up an area to accommodate the family and their photographer, Jessica Vallia.

Mayor Ortega said he wanted to recognize Lopez with this first "Pure Colorado" award for his willingness to help in a dire situation, adding that such actions are what Fountain's motto of "Pure Colorado" is all about.
