Pushing People Over the Cliff

As a fiscal conservative, I am very aware of the impact I have if I vote for something that spends YOUR money. And this certainly applies to any expansion of benefits. However, there are cases where a small expansion leads to a large reduction and that is what I plan to address next session. It's called "the cliff effect" and it forces people to continue on various forms of welfare when what they want to do is become self-sufficient, tax paying citizens.

Let me explain. Someone who earns less that 130% of the federal poverty level or whose net income for a family of four is less than $2,05...
