Funding Education and Paying Teachers in Colorado

The state of Colorado, through your senators and representatives, allocates money on a per-pupil basis and sends that money to the local school districts. Seems fair, but it may not be.

A large metropolitan school district receives the same amount per-pupil as a small rural district. However, each must also build and maintain things that cost the same or even more at a small rural district. A million dollars can build a room to house 30 students in Denver, but it costs the same to build one to the same standards in La Junta.
