This is my favorite time of year! Of course I love the beautiful colors of fall in Colorado but when the leaves are gone, it is time to find the raptors. Larger birds have longer gestation period so many of the large raptors are the first to start pairing up for mating. Owls, eagles and larger hawks are pairing up now and with the leaves gone from the trees, they are easier to spot.

Owls are a bit harder to find in the summer months because they are nocturnal and stay deep in the trees during the day. Hawks are easier to spot soaring over the fields on a hunt or perched high watching f...
