Question: Why Should Residents of Widefield Attend Fountain City Council meetings?

Answer: The Council makes decisions that will affect us in Widefield.

January 16, 2019

At the Jan. 8, 2019 meeting, the Fountain City Council voted and changed the zoning of the park/open space land across from Mesa Ridge High School, NW corner, to commercial property. What is being planned is a convenience store.

We may be annoyed by the winding road Syracuse and the speed limit. However, the road goes by three schools and enters a residential area. If developed, this store will impact the traffic, students, and law enforcement. It will require redesigning the road; right now there are no funds for this. Developing this corner will create problems. What do you want our neighborhood to look like when you enter?

The park/open space is a habitat for deer and a hawk.

Growth? Progress? Were we asked if we want/need a convenience stone? At what price? It's all about money.

This issue will return for another vote on second reading- you can check the city's website (www.fountaincolorado.org) to see the agendas for future meetings to watch for when this will happen!
