Changes to Floodplain Map in Security-Widefield Area Could Save People Thousands

Some residents in a special flood hazard area near Security Creek in Security-Widefield are now out of the floodplain thanks to the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department's work to revise old maps created by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

The area effected is along U.S. Highway 85-87 from Main Street down to about Fontaine Boulevard. It also includes a neighborhood southeast of Widefield High School along Security Creek. (See map above.)
