Respect the Nest

Most of the raptors are nesting by now. Some of the owls I follow already have owlets that have hatched, some are on eggs and some are just now mating. Other raptors like hawks and eagles are paired up and many have mated by now. This is a critical time of year for the raptors. Due to their size and the need to hunt to survive, raptors have to breed earlier than smaller birds. Babies need to be able to hunt before the fall of the next year. In order to be big enough and able to hunt by themselves before fall, they must be hatched during the coldest, harshest part of the year.
