Zoning Change Request For Site Across From Mesa Ridge High School Stalls At Council Meeting

Mesa Ridge Student Cabinet members Nichole Palmer, Kayla Terrell, Zoe Wilstin and Josh Bailey spoke to the Fountain City Council expressing their concerns about a proposed zoning change for property across from the school which could open the door to development of the site for a Maverik convenience store and gas station. At the Fountain City Council meeting on February 26, the second reading of a controversial zoning change stalled when no councilmembers made a motion regarding the request. This, after hearing from a large group of concerned Widefield residents as well as some students from Mesa Ridge High School. The zoning change request was asking to change the zoning for approximately two acres of land directly across Syracuse Street to the west of Mesa Ridge High School.
